The History Of Guwahati

The history of Assam is shaped by a union of people from the east, west and the north, the convergence of the Tibeto-Burman, Indo-Aryan, Austro-Asiatic cultures and many more. The history of Assam has been derived from multiple sources. Some like Ramayana, Mahabharata, Kalika Purana, Yogini Tantra, Bishnu Purana, etc has the pre history of Assam as Pragjyotishpur. Later, during the ancient times, Prasastis of Samudragupta also has mentions about Kamarupa, the various rock inscriptions, copper plates, royal grants, etc. During the medieval times the buranjis of Ahom Kingdom says a lot about Assam History. The country known as Pragjyotisha in most ancient times and as Kamarupa in medieval times has been mentioned in both Ramayana and Mahabharata. The ancient name of Guwahati was Pragjyotishpur. It is so beautiful that we all wake up in the morning and take our first step wishing that the day goes swiftly and properly. Same happened with her. She stretched her arms and took her first step towards the door and opened it. She gently rubbed her eyes and saw the beautiful scene created by the nature. She was standing at a corner of the road where hardly anyone can notice her. Wearing a frock which was ripped she was incessantly looking at me. Probably she was crying before and after i looked at her, she wiped those.   I went to her and offered my hand to hold it. At first she was perplexed. For a girl like her it was something unusual because she was just a little pauper girl. I took her hand and rubbed them and when i looked in her eyes I saw that delight in her eyes which gave me immense happiness which is hard to describe in words.  Recently we came to hear a lot of gossips in about a girl struggling for her life. Some beastly people were responsible for this incident which took place in Delhi, the capital city of our country. Finally this girl left this world and went to another, taking all the brutality that happened to her. Everything happened just because of our mistakes. If today, our whole country is treated equally then I think we would never see these things taking place. In every step the men are given more importance than a woman. According to the census of India, for every 1000 men in this country, there exist only 940 women, an imbalance due to sex- selective abortion and infanticide. Meadow Surprises

Here I am in this beautiful meadow with green velvet grass, a beautiful stream where the water is gushing through the rocks. There i can see the magnificent red roses, the white lilies, the yellow daffodils and many more. I can seethe buzzing bees, the multicolored butterflies and also the honey sucker. It is a sunny day and all the creatures are busy around me and in the meanwhile I am here taking a book in my hands and lying beside the stream and on the soft velvet grass. The breeze is blowing gently. Some children are laughing a mile away from me. A butterfly sat on a flower. Wow! Together they looked so beautiful. Far away from me a man is selling balloons. The whole group of children ran to him. The balloons and The whole nature looked so enchanting and I broke all the meadow surprise.
