The light of the east- Guwahati

Guwahati, evolved from the age -old 'haat' (periodic market) of 'guwa' (fermented areca nut), is the gateway to the Northeast for providing best connectivity to other Northeast Indian states and the world beyond. Surrounded by the mighty Brahmaputra and the enchanting hills it is a very beautiful and well planned city with various monuments and amazing tourist's spots. The famous Kamakhya temple, the Umananda temple, Balaji temple, Ugrotora temple, Navagraha temple, etc. are the most popular mythological places of this beautiful city. One of the major attractions of Guwahati is the river cruise on the Brahmaputra river which in itself is a thrilling experience. The Srimanta Shankardev Kalakshetra is a place  that visitors should never miss. Named after the great Vaishnava saint and scholar of Assam Srimanta Shankardeva, it is a multipurpose cultural complex which is always used for saving and promoting the cultural heritage of the tribes and communities of Assam and our country.
Adjacent to Shankardev Kalakshetra we have the beautiful Shilpagram, the only craft village of the northeast zone cultural centre(NEZCC). Not leaving the Dighalipukhuri, situated at the heart of the city at Uzanbazar and surrounded by the high court, state museum and the district library, the Dighalipukhuri is a huge man made tank. Children often goes out to play in the Nehru Park situated at Panbazar to attract not only the kids but it pulls everyone's attention. The Assam state zoo and the botanical garden is also a great place for the people who visits Assam and specially the amazing Guwahati city.
For shopping, we have the Fancy bazaar, the G.S. Road, Panbazaar, Paltan Bazaar, the Beltola and many more. In our city we have a great University which is known as the Gauhati University, many colleges are also situated here. One of them is the Cotton College which is known to everyone living here. In the north bank of the Brahmaputra the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is established.
here, i wrote all the positive sides of our city but it is the duty of every person to judge this city to point out all the missing things which is important to build a new and fulfilled
one.
